Knowing that not everyone wants to be surprised by their advent wines, we have listed it a couple of different ways. For "All the Info", click HERE - each number's descriptions and everything else you need to know about each wine. For the "Descriptions Only", click HERE - test your wine tasting skills, try to name the varietal, check here to find a wine that might pair nicely with tonight's meal. Or, if you just want to know the name of the wine, click the image below for the corresponding day. Please remember that even though it's an advent calendar, we don't expect you to drink a bottle a day. Always drink safely and in moderation.
We'd love to have your feedback on these wines. Feel free to drop us a comment. Cheers!

These times are expensive and we're trying to figure out how to help reduce the burden of increased costs. Due to the world wine shortage of glass wine bottles, our bottle costs have almost doubled since 2019 - and just last week we got hit with yet another price hike on glass! What to do? What to do? Starting immediately we will be accepting used wine bottles, of any size, to be resold to our customers at a fraction of the cost of new bottles. To maintain our standards, certain health and safety guidelines will need to be followed. Due to limited storage space, please make arrangements with us before bringing in your used bottles. We will only accept bottles if we have the room to store them. We will be inspecting and accepting bottles that are only: a) in excellent condition, b) cork finish (no screw tops), c) clean inside and out, and d) void of any labels, adhesive residue and other commercial packaging. We will not accept: a) any bottles that do not meet our standards as stated above, b) chipped, cracked or broken bottles, c) any bottles that have not been cleaned or properly stored, d) any screw-top bottles, e) any cardboard boxes that are dirty and in poor condition, or f) drop offs (please contact us to arrange a time). Please note that the bottle return depot will not accept bottles that have the commercial labels removed. Until now, your best bet was to take those bottles to the recycling depot and place them in the glass recycling bins. Hopefully, we have given everyone one more option on reusing/recycling/reducing! REMEMBER: This is a pilot program, meaning we will be trying it out to see if it's worth implementing full time. It could be suspended or cancelled without notice. You can call the shop at 250-787-2739 for more information. Some changes are happening...For years we have used MacDay Label Systems for printing our customers wonderful, easy-to-remove wine bottle labels. During these strange times, prices are going up and MacDay, as well as many other companies, are doing what they can to try to keep costs down. Please follow this link to help MacDay with their decision making process.
25 years ago, Argentina’s leading red grape, Malbec, was relatively unknown to us. Some wine lovers probably knew the grape from Bordeaux blends. A few aficionados may have tried an inky black and very tannic French wine called Côt, the original Malbec from the Cahors region. However, a dramatic rise in Argentina’s wine quality and incredible export success catapulted Malbec from the relative backwaters of the wine world to vino stardom. Some of these Argentinian Malbec wines approach the power of a Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated dark fruits and tasty tannins. Others, with higher acidity, have the finesse of a Pinot Noir. Chile makes Malbecs and there are American plantings of the grape in states including California, Washington, Oregon, and Texas. There are also plenty of contrasting Malbecs within each country, depending on growing conditions and decisions made in the vineyard and winery. Try these kits: Original Series - 4 week kit, from Chile, flavours of blackberry, black cherry and oak Estate Series - 6 week kit, from Argentina, flavours of black plum, clove and charred wood - excerpts taken from Danny Wood article in Winemaker Magazine |
